Defensively speaking, New York outperformed Arizona with thirty-one hits and sixteen takeaways compared to nineteen hits and seven takeaways for Arizona respectively; this physicality helped them maintain control over much of the gameplay. Additionally, their defensive efforts were bolstered by seventeen blocked shots which contributed significantly towards protecting their lead.
