The third period saw continued dominance from New York as they scored three more times to secure their win.

The Rangers' offense was firing on all cylinders throughout this encounter. On the other side of the rink, despite putting up seventeen hits and blocking ten shots while winning twenty-six faceoffs out of sixty-eight attempts, Montreal could not contain New York's relentless attack. Even though they had five powerplay chances resulting in one goal and fired thirty-five shots towards goal, it wasn't enough to overcome New York's lead.
