The game started off slow for the Rangers, as they were unable to put any points on the board during the first period. However, their fortunes changed in the second period when they managed to score once, setting up an explosive third period where they added four more goals to their tally. The team's performance was bolstered by Chris Kreider and Vincent Trocheck, who were among the stars of the game due to their pivotal contributions.

On offense, the Rangers showcased efficiency and teamwork. They scored five goals from just 24 shots on goal resulting in an impressive shooting percentage of 21 percent. Their powerplay unit capitalized on one of their two opportunities thanks to precise execution and coordination among players.

Defensively, New York demonstrated resilience and strategic play. The goaltending was exceptional with a total of 33 saves out of 36 shots against them - maintaining a perfect save percentage throughout most gameplay scenarios except during shorthanded situations where they conceded one goal out of two shots faced.

The Hurricanes fought hard throughout all three periods but struggled to overcome New York's defense after scoring three times from their total attempts on goal. Sebastian Aho stood out for Carolina with his performance earning him recognition as one of the game's stars despite his team's loss.

In addition to scoring prowess and defensive solidity, faceoffs were evenly matched between both teams each winning half out of 62 faceoffs indicating how closely contested this matchup was beyond just goals scored.

Looking ahead, fans can catch The New York Rangers back in action at Madison Square Garden against these same Carolina Hurricanes on May 18th at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
