On defense and between the pipes, Igor Shesterkin made an impressive 23 saves out of 26 shots faced throughout regulation time and overtime. His performance was crucial in keeping many of Washington's attempts at bay.

The Washington Capitals demonstrated resilience by bouncing back each time they fell behind. Their winning goal in overtime underscored their ability to capitalize on crucial moments. Tom Wilson stood out for his team as one of its stars; he played a pivotal role alongside Alex Ovechkin who continued to be influential across all areas of play.

Despite being outshot by Washington 26 to 17, New York showed efficiency by maintaining a shooting percentage equal to that of their opponents at twelve percent each. The physicality was evident as well with New York delivering thirty-six hits compared to Washington's twenty-two.
