Madison Square Garden witnessed an intense battle where the Oilers managed to net three goals against the Rangers' one. Despite the efforts put forth by both teams, it was Edmonton's ability to convert on their chances that made the difference. The Oilers scored one powerplay goal out of four opportunities, showcasing their efficiency when they had the man advantage. On defense, they blocked 19 shots from the Rangers, demonstrating a solid defensive strategy that kept New York's scoring to a minimum.


The New York Rangers showed resilience throughout the game. They attempted 22 shots on goal but were only able to convert once. Their powerplay unit struggled against Edmonton's defense, failing to score on any of their three opportunities. However, it wasn't for lack of trying as they won nearly half of their faceoffs and blocked 16 shots in an attempt to keep themselves in contention.

Player Performances


Amongst individual performances for the Rangers, Will Cuylle stood out by scoring his team's only goal with an impressive shooting percentage of 50 percent from his two attempts on goal. Vincent Trocheck and Artemi Panarin each contributed with an assist, highlighting their playmaking abilities despite the tough loss.


On defense and between the pipes for New York was Igor Shesterkin who made 20 saves throughout the night but ultimately faced defeat as he allowed three goals against him from 23 shots by Edmonton players.
