Canadian Tire Centre Clash: Ottawa Senators Face Winnipeg Jets

As the Ottawa Senators gear up to host the Winnipeg Jets at the Canadian Tire Centre, fans are eager to see if their team can continue their recent momentum. The Senators have shown a mix of resilience and vulnerability in their past games, which could be pivotal in determining the outcome of this matchup.

On December 24th, the Senators pulled off a nail-biting victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins with a 5-4 win in overtime. Their performance was marked by an impressive shooting percentage of 19 percent and a total of five goals on 26 shots. Despite winning fewer faceoffs and taking more penalties than their opponents, they managed to secure a win thanks to clutch goaltending that boasted an .882 save percentage.

However, consistency has been an issue for OTT. In their game against the Colorado Avalanche on December 22nd, they fell short despite firing off an overwhelming 45 shots and scoring four goals. The Senators' powerplay clicked with one goal from six opportunities but ultimately couldn't overcome Colorado's strong offensive showing.

The most concerning aspect for OTT fans should be how they fared against Arizona Coyotes on December 20th at Mullett Arena. Despite starting strong with three first-period goals, they failed to maintain that lead and lost with a final score of 3-4. This game highlighted some defensive frailties as well as discipline issues – taking six penalties throughout the game.

OTT's upcoming opponents, Winnipeg Jets have not had any recent games detailed here for comparison but knowing their competitive nature; it will not be an easy contest for either side.

The key for Ottawa will lie in maintaining offensive pressure while tightening up defensively and staying disciplined to avoid unnecessary penalties that could cost them valuable ice time against Winnipeg's likely potent powerplay unit.

Looking ahead at what promises to be an exciting encounter between these two teams, fans should expect OTT’s players like those who shone during previous games – particularly those who contributed significantly during powerplays or even-strength situations – to step up once again if they hope to secure another home victory.

Senators enthusiasts should mark January 20th on their calendars when these two teams face off at Canadian Tire Centre at 8:00 PM EST. The game will also be available nationally via ESPN+ internet broadcast network for those who prefer watching from home or elsewhere.
