From the opening faceoff to the final horn at Canadian Tire Centre, fans witnessed an impressive performance by the home team. The Senators established dominance early on by netting two goals in the first period and continued their scoring streak with another pair in the second. By maintaining this momentum into the third period, they added two more to their tally.

The Senators' offensive effort was reflected in their shooting percentage of 16 percent as they peppered Montreal's goaltender with 37 shots throughout the game. Despite being outshot, Montreal managed to slip two past Ottawa's goalie who saved 21 shots for a save percentage of 100 percent. The Canadiens' powerplay unit struggled against Ottawa's penalty kill as they failed to capitalize on any of their four opportunities.

Montreal's physical presence was evident through their total hits count at 18 compared to Ottawa's more aggressive approach resulting in 23 hits. However, it was not enough to intimidate or slow down Ottawa’s players who also recorded ten assists and ten takeaways during play.

A pivotal moment came when one Senator scored what would be recognized as the winning goal amidst this high-scoring affair – a testament to his team’s collective effort and skillful execution on ice.

Looking ahead after this commanding victory over Montreal, fans can anticipate another exciting matchup for The Senators as they prepare to host Winnipeg Jets at Canadian Tire Centre on January 20th at 3:00 PM Eastern Time. This upcoming contest will be available for viewing nationally via ESPN+.
