Can the Ottawa Senators Overcome the Florida Panthers at Amerant Bank Arena?

As the Ottawa Senators prepare to face off against the Florida Panthers, fans are eager to see if their team can carry forward their momentum from a recent victory. The Senators' last game on December 24 against the Pittsburgh Penguins showcased a resilient team that fought hard for a 5-4 win in overtime. Despite being outshot, they capitalized on their opportunities with an impressive shooting percentage of 19 percent.

The Senators' performance was marked by strong even-strength play, where they scored all five goals. Their powerplay unit struggled without any goals from seven shots, but it was their tenacity at even strength that ultimately secured them the win. This resilience will be crucial when facing the Panthers, who are known for their aggressive playstyle.

Looking back at another past game on December 22 against Colorado Avalanche, despite having more shots with a total of 45 and securing one powerplay goal from six opportunities, OTT fell short in a high-scoring affair with a final score of 4-6. The loss highlighted areas where improvement is needed—particularly in penalty killing as they conceded four goals while shorthanded.

In contrast to these mixed results, OTT's encounter with Arizona Coyotes on December 20 ended in disappointment after an early lead slipped away resulting in a narrow defeat of 3-4. The Senators started strong with three first-period goals but failed to maintain this intensity throughout the remaining periods.

OTT's upcoming challenge against FLA will test their ability to maintain consistency across all periods and capitalize on powerplay opportunities which have been lacking recently. It's imperative that they improve faceoff wins and reduce penalties which have plagued them in previous games.

The Panthers will not make it easy for OTT; they're formidable opponents especially when playing at home at Amerant Bank Arena. However, if there’s anything recent performances have shown us about OTT is that underestimating them could be FLA's downfall.

Fans should mark their calendars for February 21st when these two teams clash under the bright lights of Sunrise, Florida. With puck drop scheduled for just after sunset (7:00 PM EST), supporters can catch all action live nationally via ESPN+ or locally through BSFL channel number 654.
