Senators Skid on Home Ice as Blues Glide to Victory at Canadian Tire Centre

The Ottawa Senators, with a record of 34-31-14, faced off against the St. Louis Blues, who came into the game with a 40-28-11 record. The final score reflected the intensity of the competition: 5-2 in favor of the visiting team.

The Senators entered their home arena with determination but found themselves trailing early as the Blues notched two goals in the first period. Despite an aggressive offensive push by Ottawa, which resulted in a total of 39 shots on goal throughout the game, they were unable to capitalize on most opportunities due to St. Louis' solid defense and goaltending.

Ottawa's powerplay unit managed to convert one out of three chances into a goal thanks to precise puck movement and positioning that led to an eight-shot barrage during man advantages. However, their shooting percentage was low at five percent overall, reflecting missed opportunities and stellar goaltending by St. Louis' netminder who saved all but two shots for a perfect save percentage.

On even strength play, both teams were neck-and-neck with Ottawa scoring one goal from thirty shots while St. Louis matched this effort with five goals from twenty-three attempts. The Senators did manage to win more faceoffs overall (27 out of 51), showing some dominance in puck possession but ultimately failing to translate this advantage into additional goals.

Defensively speaking, Ottawa blocked eight shots and delivered nineteen hits throughout the match but also gave away possession fifteen times compared to eleven by their opponents – turnovers that may have contributed significantly to their defeat.
