The Senators entered the game with high hopes but were met with an unyielding Florida Panthers defense and an offense that seemed unstoppable. Despite taking a total of 30 shots on goal, the home team was unable to convert any into points. The Panthers, on the other hand, capitalized on their opportunities scoring six goals from just 31 shots. This offensive efficiency was highlighted by a shooting percentage of nineteen percent compared to Ottawa's zero.

The home team did have some positive statistics to take away from the game. They won fifty-four percent of faceoffs and blocked as many shots as they took at sixteen each. However, these efforts were overshadowed by fourteen giveaways and three penalties which resulted in six penalty minutes.
