The game began with the home team taking an early lead in the first period, scoring twice to put pressure on the Senators. However, Ottawa responded with resilience and managed to net one goal before the period ended. The second period saw both teams unable to score despite their efforts. In the third period, the Senators tied up the game with another goal, pushing both teams into overtime where neither could find the back of the net.

Ottawa's performance was marked by solid defensive play and effective goaltending. Their goalie saved all 24 shots he faced outside of regulation time and was perfect in both overtime and shootout attempts. This included seven crucial saves while shorthanded during power plays against them.

Offensively for Ottawa, their shooting percentage was modest at seven percent as they scored two goals from twenty-seven shots on goal throughout regular play and overtime combined. Despite being outperformed in faceoffs – winning only twenty-five out of sixty-two – they showed tenacity where it counted most.

On special teams play, neither side managed to capitalize on powerplay opportunities; however, it is worth noting that Ottawa had four chances but couldn't convert any into goals despite eight shots taken during these moments.

Tampa Bay's effort was highlighted by fifteen takeaways and a higher faceoff win percentage at sixty percent but ultimately fell short as they were unable to maintain their initial lead or secure victory during shootout rounds.

As for individual contributions from Ottawa players: there were five points scored collectively which included two goals and three assists spread across different lines showing depth in scoring potential for future games.

Looking ahead after this hard-fought battle on ice: The next challenge for Ottawa will be hosting Montreal Canadiens at Canadian Tire Centre located in Ontario’s capital city on April 13th at 7:00 PM Eastern Time Zone (ET).
