Despite not adding to their tally in the second period, they unleashed an offensive onslaught in the third period with four goals. The Sharks managed to find the back of the net twice in the second and once more in the third period but fell short of mounting a successful comeback.


Key players for Ottawa included Tim Stutzle and Brady Tkachuk, who were among those recognized for their outstanding performances on ice. Stutzle contributed significantly with one goal and one assist while Tkachuk added another goal to his season's achievements. Linus Ullmark's goaltending was also pivotal; he saved 34 out of 37 shots directed at him by San Jose players.


San Jose’s effort saw them converting three powerplay opportunities into goals from six shots during these advantages. However, even this impressive conversion rate wasn't enough to secure them a win against a determined Ottawa side.
