Can Ottawa Senators Overcome Columbus Blue Jackets' Defense at Canadian Tire Centre?

First Period


The opening period saw both teams testing each other's defenses, but it was the Blue Jackets who managed to break through first. Despite several attempts by the Sens, including shots from Tim Stutzle and Brady Tkachuk, they were unable to find the back of the net. The period ended with Columbus leading by one goal.


Second Period


In the second period, Jake Sanderson stepped up for Ottawa and scored their only goal of the match. His effort was supported by an assist from Tim Stutzle, showcasing his playmaking abilities once again. However, Columbus responded swiftly with another goal of their own, maintaining their lead as they headed into the final period.

Third Period


The third period proved decisive as Columbus extended their lead further with two additional goals. Despite strong defensive plays from Nikolas Matinpalo and Jordan Spence for Ottawa, they couldn't contain Columbus' offensive surge led by Damon Severson's standout performance on defense for CBJ.


Throughout this matchup between these two competitive teams, goaltender Leevi Merilainen made 18 saves for Ottawa but faced relentless pressure from a determined Blue Jackets offense that ultimately sealed their win.
