First Period

The game began with both teams displaying strong defensive play. The Canes struck first, capitalizing on an even-strength opportunity to take an early lead. Despite being outshot in this period, Ottawa managed to keep pace thanks to solid goaltending from Linus Ullmark.

Second Period

The second period saw increased offensive efforts from both sides. The Sens found their rhythm as Tim Stutzle netted a powerplay goal, assisted by Drake Batherson and Dylan Cozens. However, Carolina responded swiftly with two goals of their own during even-strength play and another on a powerplay opportunity.

Third Period

Entering the final period trailing by one goal, Ottawa pushed hard for an equalizer. Jake Sanderson delivered for his team with another powerplay goal assisted by Lars Eller and Jordan Spence. Yet again, Carolina's Seth Jarvis proved pivotal as he scored what would be the game-winning goal for his team.

Despite their efforts and maintaining a faceoff win percentage of 50 percent throughout the game, Ottawa's inability to convert more of their powerplay opportunities was evident in this close contest. The team's performance was highlighted during post-game interviews where players expressed determination to improve further.
