First Period

The opening period saw both teams finding their rhythm with one goal each. The Senators struck first with Dylan Cozens making his presence felt early on. Cozens, who has been a consistent performer for Ottawa, capitalized on an opportunity to put his team ahead. However, the Leafs responded swiftly as they leveled the score before heading into intermission.

Second Period

The second period was where the Sens truly shone, netting four goals and taking control of the game. Drake Batherson and Thomas Chabot were instrumental during this phase; Batherson scored twice while Chabot contributed with both a goal and an assist. Their efforts were complemented by strong defensive plays that limited Toronto's chances and kept them at bay.

Third Period

Despite attempts from Toronto to mount a comeback in the final period, they were unable to breach Linus Ullmark's solid goaltending for Ottawa. Ullmark made crucial saves throughout the match and ended with 21 saves out of 23 shots faced.

In contrast, Toronto struggled offensively despite having more faceoff wins than their opponents (51 percent). Their inability to convert powerplay opportunities into goals further hindered their efforts against a resolute Ottawa defense.
