The Flyers opened the scoring in the first period and maintained their lead until the second when the Flames equalized. The third period saw an intense battle as both teams added to their tallies. Ultimately, it was Calgary that emerged victorious with an additional goal to seal their win.

Philadelphia's offense was active throughout, taking 31 shots on goal and converting three into scores for a shooting percentage of ten percent. Despite not capitalizing on any powerplay opportunities from four chances, they showed strength during even play by netting all three goals during such times.

Defensively, Philadelphia registered 22 hits and blocked 15 shots from reaching their goaltender who made an impressive total of 29 saves but unfortunately took credit for the loss. The team's faceoff performance was notable with a winning percentage of fifty-eight percent; they won 34 out of 59 faceoffs.

On special teams, while unable to score on powerplays despite six shots taken during these advantages, Philadelphia remained disciplined only serving two penalties amounting to four penalty minutes overall.

For Calgary's part, they managed to overcome eighteen giveaways with solid goaltending that included twenty-eight saves and kept all Flyers' powerplay attempts at bay. Their winning goal came at even strength which contributed to their twelve percent shooting efficiency over thirty-three shots taken.

As for individual performances from Philadelphia players – six assists were distributed among them indicating good teamwork and passing accuracy during play sequences leading up to goals scored.

Looking ahead after this hard-fought match-up in Calgary where attendance peaked at eighteen thousand seven hundred twenty-three spectators; fans can catch the next game featuring the Philadelphia Flyers as they visit Rogers Place in Edmonton against Oilers. This upcoming contest is scheduled for January third at nine PM Eastern Time and will be broadcasted nationally on ESPN+ as well as locally via NBCS-PH for away game coverage.
