Clash at Wells Fargo Center: Ottawa Senators Face Philadelphia Flyers

As the Philadelphia Flyers gear up to host the Ottawa Senators at the Wells Fargo Center, fans are eager to see if their team can capitalize on their recent offensive prowess. The Flyers have shown a remarkable ability to find the back of the net, as evidenced by their impressive six-goal performance in Detroit against the Red Wings on December 23rd. Despite falling short in a shootout, this game highlighted their even-strength capabilities and resilience.

The Flyers' scoring distribution across periods in that game was particularly noteworthy – they managed to escalate their offense as time progressed, with one goal in the first period, two in the second, and three in the third. This ascending scoring trend could be crucial when facing off against a Senators team that will be looking for any sign of weakness.

However, it's not just about scoring goals; it's also about preventing them. The goaltending statistics from that same game show room for improvement with an .838 save percentage and six goals allowed. This is an area where focus must be intensified if they wish to secure more wins moving forward.

On December 22nd against Nashville Predators at home, things didn't go as planned for PHI. They managed only two goals from 31 shots while conceding four points to Nashville – a stark contrast to their performance against Detroit. Their powerplay did manage one goal from eight opportunities which suggests there is potential there but consistency is key.

Defensively speaking, there were positives from this encounter too – despite losing faceoffs overall (48 percent), they blocked 12 shots which shows commitment and sacrifice on defense; qualities that will need to be present against Ottawa.

Looking back further into December 20th's away victory over New Jersey Devils provides another glimpse into what PHI can bring into this upcoming match-up. A tight game saw them win by just one goal during overtime after maintaining strong defensive play throughout regular time reflected by a higher save percentage of .923 compared with other recent games.

The upcoming battle between PHI and OTT promises excitement and tests for both teams' offensive lines and defensive units alike. With both teams having strengths that could potentially exploit each other’s weaknesses - it’s going to come down who wants it more on gameday.

Flyers fans should mark January 21st on their calendars when these two teams clash at Wells Fargo Center starting at 1:00 PM Eastern Time (ET). The action can be caught live nationally via ESPN+ or locally through NBCS-PH TV network – don’t miss out!
