The Flyers opened the scoring early in the first period and held onto that lead until midway through the second when the Blues evened things up. Both teams remained deadlocked through the third period and overtime, leading to a shootout where St. Louis ultimately prevailed. The Flyers' goaltender put on an impressive display with 24 saves throughout regulation and overtime but allowed two goals during the shootout.

Philadelphia's offense fired off an impressive total of 41 shots on goal but only managed to convert one into a score, reflecting a shooting percentage of two percent for this encounter. Despite their efforts on offense, they were unable to capitalize on their two powerplay opportunities.

On defense, Philadelphia was solid throughout regular play and successfully killed all penalties without conceding any goals while shorthanded. They also blocked an equal number of shots as their opponents at 29 each and narrowly won more faceoffs with a fifty-one percent success rate.

The Blues' performance was highlighted by their goaltender's remarkable forty saves from forty-one shots against him during regulation time and overtime combined – achieving a perfect save percentage before heading into the shootout where he conceded once out of four attempts by Flyers shooters.
