Penguins Glide North to Tangle with Maple Leafs in Toronto's Ice Garden

As the Pittsburgh Penguins prepare for their next challenge, they'll be facing off against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena. Fans are eager to see if the Penguins can continue their recent momentum after a series of notable performances.

In their last outing, the Penguins secured a victory over the New York Rangers with an impressive 5-2 scoreline. Their offense was firing on all cylinders, as evidenced by netting five goals on just 20 shots – an exceptional shooting percentage of 25 percent. The team also demonstrated defensive prowess by blocking 17 shots and winning crucial faceoffs despite being outdone in that area overall.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for Pittsburgh. In a nail-biting encounter with the Columbus Blue Jackets prior to that win, they fell short in a shootout after tying in regulation and overtime. Despite this setback, there were positives to take away; notably their goaltender's performance who saved 35 out of 38 shots.

The Penguins' power play has been less than stellar recently and could be an area of concern going into this matchup. They failed to capitalize on three opportunities against New York and only managed two power play chances against Columbus without success.

On home ice against Columbus Blue Jackets before these two games, Pittsburgh showed resilience by clinching a win despite being shorthanded twice and scoring two power play goals which contributed significantly to their three-point tally.

The upcoming game promises to be an exciting one as both teams have shown they can light up the scoreboard while also having areas that need tightening up defensively. The venue might influence proceedings; playing away from home always presents additional challenges but it is something that seasoned teams like Pittsburgh are well-equipped to handle.

Fans can catch all the action live from Scotiabank Arena on April 8th at 7:00 PM ET via ESPN+ online or SportsNet PT television coverage.
