On defense, goaltender Tristan Jarry had an impressive game despite facing numerous shots from Buffalo's aggressive offense. He managed to save 28 out of 33 shots against him, playing a crucial role in Pittsburgh's victory.

Despite falling short in overtime, the Buffalo Sabres displayed commendable effort throughout the game. They started strong by netting three goals in the first period but were unable to maintain this lead as Pittsburgh caught up and eventually overtook them.
