At the SAP Center at San Jose, fans witnessed an impressive display by the Sharks as they took on their rivals. The game began with an explosive first period where the Sharks netted four goals against the Golden Knights. This early lead set a challenging pace for Vegas to match. The second period saw one additional goal from the home team, solidifying their dominance on ice.

The Sharks' goaltender was formidable between the pipes, saving 32 out of 34 shots for a save percentage of ninety-four percent. This defensive performance was critical in maintaining their lead throughout all three periods. Offensively, San Jose capitalized on their powerplay opportunities by scoring one goal out of four chances and demonstrated efficiency with a twenty-four percent shooting percentage overall.

Conversely, Vegas struggled to find their rhythm despite taking more shots than San Jose; they managed only two goals from thirty-four attempts which translates to a mere six percent shooting accuracy. Their powerplay unit failed to convert any of their three opportunities into goals.

The Golden Knights' faceoff win percentage stood higher than that of the Sharks at sixty-one percent compared to thirty-nine percent for San Jose; however, this advantage did not translate into scoreboard success for Vegas.
