In an intense matchup at the SAP Center at San Jose, the Sharks showcased their offensive capabilities early on by netting two goals in the first period. Their powerplay unit proved effective, converting two out of four opportunities throughout the game. The Sharks' shooting accuracy was notable as they scored four goals from thirty shots on goal, reflecting a thirteen percent shooting success rate.

Despite their efforts and leading twice during regulation time, it was not enough to secure victory. The Blackhawks managed to tie each time before taking the lead in overtime. The home team's goaltending was solid with twenty-six saves made against thirty-one shots faced by their netminder.
