Game Highlights

The Sharks struggled to find their rhythm in the first period, failing to score against the Wild's defense. The momentum shifted slightly in the second period when William Eklund managed to net one for San Jose, marking his contribution as crucial given it was their only goal from 37 shots attempted throughout the game. Eklund's performance stood out as he capitalized on one of his two shots on goal, showcasing an impressive shooting percentage of 50 percent.

On the other side, Minnesota showcased strategic gameplay and resilience. Marc-Andre Fleury’s goaltending for the Wild was stellar; he saved 36 out of 37 shots directed at him by San Jose players. This defensive stronghold was complemented by Matt Boldy’s offensive efforts which earned him one of three stars of the game recognition.

Player Performances

Macklin Celebrini also made notable contributions for San Jose despite not scoring; he assisted on Eklund's goal and led his team with six shots on goal while maintaining an active presence throughout his ice time. His efforts were indicative of how close several players came to altering the outcome but ultimately fell short due to Fleury’s exceptional performance between the pipes for Minnesota.

Yaroslav Askarov faced challenges in net for San Jose but managed to save 19 out of 22 shots. His efforts reflected a solid attempt at keeping his team within reach throughout various stages of play.
