On defense and between pipes, Yaroslav Askarov delivered an exceptional performance by saving 29 out of 30 shots directed at him by Pittsburgh players. His efforts were instrumental in keeping his team ahead throughout various stages of play.

Despite falling short on this occasion, Pittsburgh displayed commendable effort throughout all three periods. Their lone goal came during a tense moment in third period which briefly put them back into contention before ultimately succumbing to San Jose's defense.

The Penguins showed strength in faceoffs winning 40 out of total attempts but struggled with powerplay opportunities failing to convert any despite having four chances against Shark’s defense.
