First Period

The first period saw both teams finding their rhythm, with each side netting a goal. Matty Beniers stood out for the Kraken, scoring one of their three goals and adding an assist later in the game. His performance was crucial in keeping Seattle competitive early on.

Second Period

In the second period, both teams ramped up their offensive efforts. The Kraken managed to score twice more, showcasing strong teamwork with assists from Berkly Catton and Vince Dunn. However, Utah matched this intensity by also scoring two goals during this period.

Third Period

The third period proved decisive as Utah surged ahead with three additional goals while shutting out Seattle entirely in this segment of play. Nate Schmidt of Utah emerged as a key player throughout the match and was instrumental during this final stretch.

Despite Philipp Grubauer's efforts between the pipes for Seattle—making 24 saves—the Mammoth's relentless attack proved too much to handle. The goaltending stats reflected a challenging night for Grubauer against a potent offense from Utah.

Post-game interviews highlighted what went wrong for Seattle Kraken: missed opportunities on power plays where they failed to capitalize despite having multiple chances throughout the game.

Looking forward, fans can catch Seattle back on home ice when they host Pittsburgh Penguins at Climate Pledge Arena on January 19th at 5:00 PM EDT. The matchup will be broadcasted across ESPN+, KHN TV, KONG TV, SportsNet PT TV, and Amazon Prime Video Internet platforms.
