From the initial puck drop at Enterprise Center, the home team set an aggressive tone. The Blues opened their account early in the first period but were quickly caught by two swift goals from the Oilers. Undeterred, St. Louis responded with an offensive onslaught in the second period, netting four goals and tipping the scales heavily in their favor.

The Blues' powerplay unit was particularly effective, converting two out of eight opportunities into goals and boasting a faceoff win percentage of 64 percent during powerplays. Their shooting accuracy was on full display as they capitalized on 20 percent of their shots compared to Edmonton's eight percent.

St. Louis goaltending also played a pivotal role; saving 35 out of 38 shots for an impeccable save percentage rounded up to one hundred percent throughout regular play time. This defensive solidity provided a backbone for offensive maneuvers that saw ten different players contributing points on six goals scored.

On Edmonton's side, despite being outplayed overall, there were moments where they shone through individual brilliance and teamwork—particularly during their lone powerplay goal which came off one of three chances they had with a man advantage.
