At Little Caesars Arena, the St. Louis Blues were put to the test as they encountered a relentless Detroit Red Wings offense that managed to secure four goals in the first period alone. Despite entering the second period with determination, it was here that the Blues managed their only goal of the night amidst a flurry of shots totaling 23 for them throughout the game.

The lone goal for St. Louis came during even strength play and was one of their 19 shots in such situations; however, it stood as a small consolation against Detroit's robust defense and goaltending which boasted an impressive save percentage rounding to one hundred percent on all shots faced.

The powerplay opportunities for both teams were relatively even with two chances each; yet while St. Louis failed to capitalize on these moments despite winning all five faceoffs during powerplays and taking four shots at goal, Detroit made good use of their three opportunities by scoring once from their four powerplay shots.

Defensively speaking, both teams were quite active with St. Louis delivering twenty hits and blocking thirteen attempts from reaching their netminder who had his hands full facing thirty-four shots overall – saving twenty-eight but conceding six goals excluding shootout attempts where neither team scored or saved any goals.

On special teams beyond powerplays – specifically when shorthanded – St. Louis made three saves out of four shorthanded situations but allowed one goal slipping through during these high-pressure moments contributing to their loss alongside other factors like giveaways which numbered five for them compared to seven by Detroit.

As fans look ahead after this tough outing for The Blues, they can catch them next in action away against Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre on February 28th at 7:00 PM Central Time (CT). This upcoming game will be available for viewing on ESPN+ online and BSMW television network ensuring fans won't miss any live action as The Blues seek redemption following this challenging defeat.
