Will St. Louis Blues Overcome the Wild at Xcel Energy Center?

The St. Louis Blues are gearing up for a pivotal clash against the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center, and all eyes are on whether they can carry their recent momentum into this encounter. The Blues have been a mixed bag of results lately, but their latest performance against the Boston Bruins on March 11 was nothing short of dominant, securing a 5-1 victory that showcased their potential when firing on all cylinders.

In that game, the St. Louis Blues' offense was electric, with a shooting percentage of 23 percent from just 22 shots resulting in five goals. Their powerplay capitalized once out of three opportunities and boasted an impressive faceoff win percentage of 59 percent overall – signs of a team that knows how to control both puck and play.

However, it wasn't just about scoring; defensively, they were rock solid as well. The goaltending was impeccable with an astounding save percentage of 100 percent from 36 saves against Boston's relentless barrage of shots. This defensive prowess will be crucial to stifle Minnesota's attack.

On the flip side, while analyzing past performances is essential for predicting future outcomes, it's also important to note that consistency has been an issue for STL this season. A stark contrast is evident in their game against New York Rangers on March 10 where they failed to score despite taking more shots than in their win over Boston – highlighting some offensive inconsistencies.

Minnesota Wild will not make things easy either; they are known for being formidable opponents on home ice and will look to exploit any cracks in STL’s armor. With both teams eager to assert dominance early on and secure those valuable points as playoffs loom closer, fans can expect an intense battle come puck drop.

As we look ahead towards this matchup scheduled for March 23 at 7:00 PM at Xcel Energy Center in St Paul – fans should mark their calendars and tune into ESPN+ or BSMW/BSN/BSWI networks where live coverage will be available. Will STL manage to tame the Wild once again or does Minnesota have other plans? Only time will tell if St Louis can rise above its fluctuating form and secure another critical victory away from home.
