St. Louis' goaltender played a pivotal role in their win by saving all but four out of the thirty-four shots he faced throughout the game which included sixty-two minutes and five seconds on ice. This performance was crucial as it allowed his team to maintain their lead despite strong pressure from Minnesota.

On offense, St. Louis excelled at even strength where they scored all five goals against Minnesota's defense which managed four even-strength goals themselves from thirty-two shots on goal. The faceoff circle saw intense competition with St. Louis winning fifty-five percent out of sixty-four faceoffs taken.


Defensively, both teams were disciplined as evidenced by each committing only two penalties throughout the match; however neither side could capitalize on their single powerplay opportunity.
