In a game that saw the Tampa Bay Lightning take to the ice at Wells Fargo Center, they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities despite generating 22 shots and scoring twice. The Lightning's efforts were reflected in their shooting percentage of nine percent and their successful conversion on 54 percent of faceoffs. They also demonstrated defensive resilience with a total of 25 blocked attempts and managed to keep discipline with only three penalties resulting in six penalty minutes.

The Philadelphia Flyers showed formidable strength during even-strength play where they scored all six goals from thirty shots. Their shooting accuracy was impressive as they hit nineteen percent of their attempts. The Flyers also displayed strong physicality throughout the match, delivering thirty-three hits against the Lightning's twenty-four.

Tampa Bay's goaltender faced an onslaught from the Flyers' offense, making twenty-five saves but ultimately conceding four goals before two empty-netters widened the gap late in the game. Despite being shorthanded at times, Tampa Bay managed one save without allowing any goals while playing with fewer skaters on ice.

On offense for Tampa Bay, there was some success during even-strength play where both goals were scored; however, powerplay opportunities did not translate into points despite having two chances to do so. In contrast, while Philadelphia did not score on their powerplay either—having three opportunities—their relentless attack during regular play proved overwhelming for Tampa Bay's defense.
