First Period

The game commenced with an explosive start from the Sabres, who netted four goals in the opening period. The Bolts struggled defensively as Rasmus Dahlin led Buffalo's charge with precision and skill. Despite having more shots on goal than their opponents, Tampa Bay couldn't find the back of the net during this period.

Second Period

In response to Buffalo's early dominance, Victor Hedman stepped up for Tampa Bay by scoring a goal that brought some hope to Lightning fans. However, Josh Norris extended Buffalo’s lead further by adding another goal for his team. The Bolts' powerplay opportunities went uncapitalized as they failed to convert any of their three chances into goals.
