The Toronto Maple Leafs displayed resilience throughout the game. Despite trailing after the first period, they managed to level up in the second and took control by adding another goal during third period play. The home team dominated faceoffs, winning 34 out of 52 attempts and excelling at even strength where they won nearly 73 percent of their faceoffs. Their shooting accuracy was modest at five percent with a total shot count reaching an impressive number of 40.

The offensive efforts were supported by three assists and two goals scored during even strength play. However, despite having four powerplay opportunities which resulted in five shots on goal, they were unable to capitalize on these chances.

Defensively, Toronto's goaltender made significant contributions with a save percentage close to 90 percent from a total of 29 shots faced. Even strength situations saw him save nearly 91 percent of shots directed his way.

On the other side of the ice, Florida Panthers' performance was marked by critical plays that led them to victory. They secured their win through an overtime goal which was one among three goals scored throughout various periods including one during powerplay from six shots taken under such advantage.

Their goaltender played an instrumental role as well with an outstanding save percentage nearing 95 percent from forty shots against him; he remained particularly unyielding during shorthanded scenarios where he saved all five shots faced.

Despite being outperformed in faceoff wins and having fewer takeaways than Toronto's nine takeaways, Florida managed to deliver when it mattered most – scoring crucial goals and defending stoutly especially when down a player due to penalties.

As fans look forward to future games for redemption after this hard-fought battle that ended just shy for Toronto Maple Leafs; attention now turns towards their next challenge on April first at eleven PM Eastern Time Zone against Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre located in Ottawa.
