First Period

The opening period saw the Red Wings take an early lead. Despite being outshot by the Leafs, Detroit capitalized on their opportunities and scored once in this period. The Buds struggled to find their rhythm offensively and were unable to convert any of their chances into goals.

Second Period

The second period was marked by strong defensive plays from both sides, as neither team managed to score. The Leafs dominated puck possession and had several powerplay opportunities but failed to break through Detroit's defense. The goaltending from both teams was stellar, keeping the score unchanged heading into the final period.

Third Period

In an electrifying third period, Toronto mounted a comeback attempt after falling behind further when Detroit added two more goals early on. Matthew Knies led the charge for Toronto with a goal and an assist in this frame, showcasing his offensive prowess and determination on ice. Calle Jarnkrok also found the back of the net for Toronto as they fought hard until the final buzzer.

Despite outshooting their opponents significantly throughout all three periods (40 shots compared to Detroit's 15), it was not enough for Toronto as they fell short by one goal at home against Cameron Talbot's impressive goaltending performance for Detroit.
