First Period


The opening period saw both teams aggressively pursuing goals. The Buds managed to score twice, showcasing their offensive capabilities early on. Auston Matthews was instrumental in this effort, contributing one of these goals with precision shooting from his four attempts during the game. However, Buffalo matched Toronto's intensity by also netting two goals in this period.


Second Period


As play resumed, it was clear that adjustments were made by both sides. Despite several opportunities on power plays for Toronto—four to be exact—the team failed to capitalize during this segment of play. Their power play unit did manage one goal overall but not during this critical second period when they needed it most. Meanwhile, Buffalo took advantage of their chances and added two more goals to their tally.

Third Period


Entering the final stretch with determination, Toronto sought to close the gap but could only muster one additional goal against Buffalo's solid defense and goaltending efforts led by Alex Lyon who made 31 saves throughout the match. The Swords sealed their victory with another goal late in regulation time.
