Auston Matthews added to Toronto's tally in the third period with a well-timed goal that sealed their victory. Despite Carolina's efforts to mount a comeback, they were unable to penetrate Joseph Woll’s steadfast goaltending. Woll ended with an impressive save percentage of 97 percent after facing 32 shots from Carolina.

Toronto's defense was equally formidable; they blocked numerous attempts and maintained control during crucial faceoffs—winning 56 percent overall—which stifled any momentum for Carolina.
