First Period

The opening period saw an aggressive start from both teams, but it was Colorado who took control early on. The Avs managed to net two goals, setting a strong pace for the rest of the match. Despite Toronto's efforts, they were unable to penetrate Colorado's defense effectively during this period.

Second Period

As play resumed in the second period, both teams tightened their defenses significantly. However, neither side could find an opening to alter the scoreline. The Leafs struggled with giveaways and missed opportunities that could have shifted momentum in their favor.

Third Period

In a bid for redemption during the third period, Max Domi scored Toronto's sole goal on a powerplay opportunity after receiving assists from Easton Cowan and Bobby McMann. Despite this effort bringing some hope back into their game plan, it was not enough as Colorado responded with two more goals—one being an empty-netter—sealing their triumph over Toronto.

Joseph Woll stood out for his performance between pipes by making 33 saves throughout all three periods despite facing relentless pressure from opposing forwards like Brock Nelson who led scoring efforts alongside Mackenzie Blackwood’s stellar goaltending display which kept most attempts at bay including Auston Matthews’ seven shots on target without success.
