The home team's performance was marked by resilience as they rallied from behind. Despite not scoring in the first two periods and trailing by two goals entering the third period, the Canucks mounted an impressive comeback to tie the game. They managed to net three goals during regular play time which showcased their determination and ability to respond under pressure.

A pivotal moment for the Canucks came during their powerplay opportunity when they capitalized on one out of three chances with six shots taken during these advantages. Their powerplay efficiency was evident as they converted at a rate of 33 percent while also maintaining a solid defensive stance on their penalty kill.

The offensive efforts were complemented by strong goaltending that saw a total save percentage maintained at 100 percent throughout regulation time and overtime despite facing eighteen shots from the Blues' offense. However, it was one shot in overtime that eluded them and ultimately decided the outcome.

On defense, Vancouver blocked fifteen shots and won more than half of their faceoffs with a success rate of 52 percent which helped control possession throughout various stretches of play. They also took fewer penalties than their opponents which limited scoring opportunities for St. Louis.
