The game saw the Canucks put up a valiant effort, scoring once in each of the first two periods to keep pace with the Jets. The scoring opened with both teams netting one goal apiece in the first period and continued into the second where each team again found the back of the net once. However, it was during the third period that things took a turn as Winnipeg managed to pull ahead with two additional goals.

Vancouver's performance on powerplays was noteworthy as they capitalized on one out of their three opportunities. This success came early in their powerplay attempts when they scored during a 5v4 advantage at just over four minutes into it. Despite this effort and maintaining an even faceoff win percentage at 50 percent overall, they struggled to convert these chances into more goals.

On defense, Vancouver's goaltending faced significant pressure from Winnipeg's offense. The Canucks' goalie made a total of 22 saves throughout the game but allowed three goals while facing an onslaught of shots from all angles; ultimately four pucks found their way past him including one empty-net goal which sealed their fate late in play.

The statistics tell part of Vancouver's story: they registered 20 shots on goal and landed hits on opponents 31 times during play – showcasing their physical presence on ice. Their defensive efforts were also highlighted by blocking an impressive number of attempted shots by Winnipeg – tallying up to eleven blocks.

Meanwhile, despite fewer hits than Vancouver at twenty-three for Winnipeg, efficiency was key for them as evidenced by their higher shooting percentage which stood at fifteen percent compared to ten percent for Vancouver. The Jets also blocked more shots than Canucks did – nineteen versus eleven respectively – demonstrating strong defensive resilience that contributed significantly to their victory.
