First Period

The opening period saw both teams locked in a defensive battle, with neither side able to find the back of the net. The Canucks managed to keep up with Nashville's pace but struggled to capitalize on their opportunities. Thatcher Demko stood firm in goal for Vancouver, making crucial saves that kept his team in contention.

Second Period

As play resumed, Max Sasson broke through for Vancouver with a well-timed goal that put them on the scoreboard first. However, this lead was short-lived as Ryan O'Reilly of Nashville responded swiftly with an equalizer. Both teams continued exchanging shots and hits throughout this period, but it was clear that Juuse Saros' goaltending prowess would be a significant factor for the Predators.

Third Period

In the final period of regulation time, Cole Smith emerged as a key player for Nashville by scoring what would ultimately be the winning goal. Despite several attempts from players like Elias Pettersson and Conor Garland to level things up again for Vancouver, Saros remained impenetrable between the pipes.

The post-game report Vancouver Canucks highlights how they were outshot by their opponents 35-22 and struggled particularly during faceoffs where they won only 40 percent compared to Nashville's dominant performance at 60 percent success rate.
