First Period

The game began with both teams finding their rhythm early on. The Canucks managed to score first, thanks to Brock Boeser who capitalized on an opportunity, showcasing his sharp shooting skills. However, the Sharks quickly responded with a goal of their own, leveling the playing field and setting an intense tone for what was to come.

Second Period

In this period, special teams played a crucial role. Despite having multiple powerplay opportunities—8 in total—the Nucks struggled to convert any into goals. Their powerplay unit took 11 shots but failed to find the back of the net. Meanwhile, San Jose's Macklin Celebrini made his presence felt by scoring during one of their powerplays and contributing significantly with assists throughout this period.

Third Period

As both teams entered the final stretch without adding more goals in open play during this period, it was evident that goaltending would be pivotal. Nikita Tolopilo stood firm for Vancouver with 21 saves overall but couldn't prevent Adam Gaudette from sealing victory for San Jose earlier in shorthanded situations where they excelled defensively.
