The Vegas Golden Knights entered the second period with determination but were unable to maintain momentum throughout the match. Despite an impressive powerplay performance that saw them convert one out of two opportunities and win 75 percent of their powerplay faceoffs, it wasn't enough to turn the tide. The team's overall shooting percentage stood at eight percent from their total shots taken, which amounted to 24.

The Golden Knights' defense faced relentless pressure from Buffalo's offense. The goaltending statistics for Vegas reflected a tough night, with a total of 28 saves made from an onslaught of 35 shots by Buffalo. At even strength, they managed to save all but four of those attempts.

In terms of physicality on ice, they delivered a solid performance with 36 hits during play and blocked an admirable number of shots totaling at 27.

Conversely, the Buffalo Sabres showcased superior offensive execution with seven goals scored on just as many opportunities and boasted an impressive shooting percentage of twenty percent from their total shot count which was recorded at 35. They also excelled in shorthanded situations scoring twice despite being outnumbered on ice.
