First Period

The opening period saw both teams testing each other's defenses. The Senators took an early lead with a single goal, setting the tone for what would become an uphill battle for Vegas. The Knights struggled to find their rhythm offensively and were unable to capitalize on any scoring opportunities.

Second Period

In the second period, Ottawa extended their lead by adding three more goals to their tally. The Golden Knights found themselves on the back foot as they tried to contain Ottawa's relentless attack but were unable to break through Mads Sogaard's solid goaltending performance.

Third Period

The final period witnessed a spirited attempt by Vegas to mount a comeback. Rasmus Andersson scored for the Knights, providing a glimmer of hope with his impressive shooting accuracy of 50 percent from two shots on goal. However, this effort was overshadowed by another three goals from Ottawa that sealed their victory.

Despite outshooting Ottawa during power plays with four attempts and maintaining a faceoff win percentage of 55 percent overall, Vegas couldn't convert these advantages into additional goals. Tomas Hertl contributed an assist during his time on ice but it wasn't enough against Ottawa's strong defense and effective counterattacks.
