In a closely contested National Hockey League game at Capital One Arena, the Washington Capitals were edged out by the Arizona Coyotes. Despite an aggressive performance that saw them take more shots on goal than their opponents, with a total of 36 attempts compared to the Coyotes' 26, the Capitals could not convert enough opportunities to secure victory.

The home team's goaltender made 23 saves but allowed three goals past him. On the other side of the ice, Arizona's netminder was formidable between the pipes, stopping an impressive 34 shots and conceding only two goals. This defensive effort played a significant role in securing their win.

Washington's powerplay unit managed to capitalize once during their three chances throughout the game. They scored one powerplay goal from five shots taken during man-advantage situations but struggled in faceoff win percentage during these moments with only about 14 percent success rate. At even strength, they found more rhythm and managed to score once from their substantial number of shots.

Arizona showcased efficiency when it mattered most; despite fewer overall attempts at goal and less possession as indicated by faceoffs won (25 out of 57), they maintained an even-strength shooting percentage double that of Washington’s (11 percent compared to approximately six percent). Their ability to make those fewer opportunities count was underlined by scoring all three goals during regular play without relying on special teams.

The physicality on ice was evident as both teams registered over twenty hits each – twenty-four for Washington and twenty for Arizona – indicating no shortage of commitment from either side in this hard-fought contest.

As fans look ahead after this tough loss for The Capitals, attention turns toward their next challenge which will be against Edmonton Oilers. The upcoming game is scheduled for November eight at one o'clock AM Eastern Time at Capital One Arena where fans can catch live action through various broadcast networks including ESPN+ online or NBCS-DC channel six hundred forty-two among others available internationally.
