The game held at Capital One Arena was a showcase of resilience and tactical execution by the home team. The Capitals demonstrated their strength in even-strength play, netting all four goals during such situations. Their shooting accuracy was evident as they capitalized on 12 percent of their shots compared to the Kings' 7 percent. Despite being outshot by the Kings with 41 attempts to their own 34, goaltending was key for Washington as they made an impressive total of 38 saves.

On offense, Washington's players were relentless in creating opportunities and converting them into points. With seven assists contributing to their four goals, teamwork played a crucial role in securing this win. Faceoffs were nearly evenly matched throughout the game; however, Washington edged out Los Angeles by winning just over half of them.

Los Angeles did not go down without a fight though; they managed to score two powerplay goals from three opportunities showing efficiency when playing with an advantage. However, it wasn't enough to overcome Washington's even-strength dominance where they scored all four goals.

Defensively for Washington, blocked shots and takeaways were significant factors that helped maintain their lead despite heavy pressure from Los Angeles who had more shots on goal throughout the game.
