Capitals to Navigate Through Kraken's Waters in Seattle Showdown

As the Washington Capitals prepare to face off against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena, fans are eager for insights into how their team might fare in this upcoming clash. The Capitals have shown a mixed bag of performances recently, but there's reason to believe they could steer the ship back on course against the Kraken.

In their last encounter with Arizona Coyotes on March 3rd, the Capitals fell short with a 2-5 loss. Despite putting up a fight and securing two powerplay goals out of seven opportunities, it wasn't enough to overcome the Coyotes' offensive surge. The WSH goaltending was solid with a save percentage rounding up to 100 percent; however, they allowed four goals before an empty-netter sealed their fate. This defeat highlighted areas for improvement, particularly in even-strength situations where no goals were scored by WSH.

Conversely, when looking at their performance against Philadelphia Flyers on March 2nd, there's cause for optimism. The Capitals dominated with powerplay strength and secured a convincing 5-2 victory. They capitalized on one out of three powerplay chances and showed remarkable efficiency by scoring four even-strength goals from seventeen shots – an impressive shooting percentage of 24 percent.

The game against Detroit Red Wings on February 28th serves as a stark reminder that defensive solidity is crucial; WSH conceded eight goals despite saving around 74 percent of shots faced during even-strength play.

The key takeaway is that while Washington has demonstrated vulnerability defensively at times – particularly when playing away as they will be in Seattle – they also possess potent offensive capabilities that can tip scales in their favor if leveraged correctly.

Looking ahead to the matchup with SEA, it’s clear that special teams could play a pivotal role once again. If WSH can harness their evident powerplay prowess while tightening up defensively during even-strength periods, they stand a good chance of emerging victorious from this maritime-themed battle.

Fans should mark their calendars for March 14th at Climate Pledge Arena where all eyes will be set on whether Washington can navigate through troubled waters and claim supremacy over Seattle Kraken. The puck drops at 7:00 PM Pacific Time (10:00 PM Eastern Time), and supporters can catch all the action live on ESPN+ or ROOT Sports NW for internet streaming or TV viewing respectively.
