Aliaksei Protas emerged as a significant contributor with one goal and one assist, marking his presence felt on the ice with a shooting percentage of 25 percent. On defense, John Carlson provided crucial support with two assists, proving instrumental in setting up opportunities for his teammates.


Despite trailing behind in faceoffs won (33 out of 61), indicating a faceoff win percentage of 54 percent, the Capitals managed to keep pressure on their opponents by registering 28 shots on goal and successfully blocking 12 shots from reaching their netminder. Their powerplay unit capitalized once out of two opportunities presented during the game.

Sabres' Counterattack


On the other side of the rink, the Buffalo Sabres matched up well against their opponents. Alex Tuch led from the front for Buffalo by being named one of the stars of the game due to his impactful performance. The Sabres goaltender played an essential role as well by saving 25 out of 28 shots directed at him throughout regulation time and overtime combined.


Buffalo's strategy paid off during shootouts where they managed to secure victory through precise execution resulting in two goals against Washington's single successful attempt.
