Capitals' Powerplay Strikes, But Senators' Third Period Surge Seals Victory

First Period


The game began with the Capitals taking an early lead. Aliaksei Protas opened the scoring for the Caps with his precise shooting accuracy. Tom Wilson contributed significantly by assisting Justin Sourdif's goal, giving Washington a strong start and ending the period ahead.


Second Period


Despite their initial advantage, the second period saw no goals from either side as both teams focused on defense. Logan Thompson made crucial saves for Washington to maintain their lead while Ottawa's defense tightened up to prevent further damage.

Third Period


The third period proved decisive as it marked a turning point in this matchup between these two teams. The Senators came out aggressively and managed to score twice within quick succession through Thomas Chabot and Shane Pinto. This offensive burst shifted momentum entirely towards Ottawa.


Although Dylan Strome managed another goal for Washington during powerplay playtime later in this segment - highlighting one successful tactical move - it wasn't enough against relentless pressure applied by Fabian Zetterlund who sealed victory late into regulation time securing all points available from tonight’s encounter.
