First Period

The opening period saw both teams testing each other's defenses, but it was the Cats who drew first blood. The Caps struggled to find their rhythm early on, allowing Florida to capitalize on their opportunities. Despite several attempts by players like Alex Ovechkin and Connor McMichael, Washington couldn't break through Florida's defense.

Second Period

Washington found some momentum in the second period with two goals that brought them back into contention. Jakob Chychrun was instrumental for the Caps, scoring twice and showcasing his offensive capabilities from the blue line. However, defensive lapses allowed Florida to respond with two goals of their own, maintaining their lead.
