Jets Set to Soar or Stumble? Columbus Blue Jackets Await at Canada Life Centre

As the Winnipeg Jets prepare to host the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Canada Life Centre, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The Jets have been on a roller coaster of performance lately, but there's reason to believe that they could dominate their upcoming matchup.

Looking back at their recent game on January 8 against the Arizona Coyotes, the Jets displayed an impressive offensive showcase, netting 6 goals and outshooting their opponents with a total of 36 shots. Their even-strength play was particularly strong, accounting for all six goals scored. This dominance in 5v5 situations is something that could very well carry over into their next game against CBJ.

The defensive side also held up well during that game, with goaltending saving all but two of the 17 shots faced. The penalty kill remained unbreached as well – an aspect that will be crucial when facing off against CBJ's powerplay units.

However, it wasn't just about scoring prowess; Winnipeg showed discipline by only giving away three penalties throughout the entire match and maintaining a solid faceoff win percentage of 52 percent. These facets of disciplined play and puck possession will be key factors in controlling the pace against Columbus.

In contrast, while CBJ comes into this matchup as underdogs, they should not be underestimated. Their resilience and ability to surprise stronger teams can't be ignored by WPG or its fans.

The Jets' previous games also highlight some areas for improvement which could prove vital in securing victory over CBJ. For instance, on January 6 against Anaheim Ducks despite winning with three goals to one; WPG struggled in faceoffs winning only 39 percent overall – an area where they'll need to step up if they want to maintain control against Columbus.

Moreover, special teams might play a significant role; although WPG didn’t capitalize much on powerplay opportunities in these past games (scoring only once out of four chances), improving this aspect could give them an extra edge over CBJ who may offer more powerplay opportunities given their higher penalty minutes per game average.

In conclusion, if WPG can harness their even-strength goal-scoring ability demonstrated recently while tightening up faceoff wins and capitalizing on special teams’ opportunities - there’s every chance for them to come out victorious in front of home fans at Canada Life Centre.

Fans eager not to miss any action from this promising clash should tune into ESPN+ online or BSOH channel 660 for away broadcast coverage when these two teams hit the ice on January 10th at 8:00 PM local time (Canada).
