The Jets came out strong in the first period, netting three goals and setting an aggressive tone for the match. Their offensive efforts were reflected in their shooting percentage of ten percent as they capitalized on two powerplay opportunities out of three. The powerplay unit was particularly effective, contributing two goals on six shots with four assists during these man advantages.

Despite this early lead, the Jets struggled to maintain their momentum throughout the rest of the game. They failed to add any more points to their tally in both subsequent periods while giving up four penalties totaling four penalty minutes. On a positive note, they won sixty percent of faceoffs and blocked seventeen shots over the course of play.

In contrast, Calgary demonstrated remarkable resilience and consistency across all three periods by scoring two goals each time. Their offense was notably efficient with an eighteen percent shooting accuracy and managed to convert one out of two powerplay chances into a goal. The Flames also matched Winnipeg's physicality with twenty-three hits but surpassed them with fifteen takeaways compared to Winnipeg's eleven.

The goaltending for both teams was busy throughout this high-scoring affair; however, it was Calgary's netminder who emerged victorious after making twenty-eight saves from thirty-one shots faced. Meanwhile, Winnipeg's goalie also stopped twenty-eight attempts but faced thirty-three shots excluding one empty-net goal that sealed their fate late in the third period.
